Who We Are
A Community Rooted in
Tradition & Service
Four years of celebrating Telugu culture, honoring India's festivals, and giving back to our community.
Our Story
Born from Pride
in our Heritage
The Telangana Initiative was founded by a group of high school students who shared a simple belief: that the rich culture, language, and spiritual traditions of Telangana deserve to be celebrated, shared, and passed on to the next generation.
Over four years, we have grown from an informal gathering into an active youth nonprofit — organizing festivals, religious observances, and an annual fundraising stall at our local temple that raises over $5,000 each year for community programs.
"We wanted a place where second-generation Telugu youth could feel proud of where they come from — and where anyone curious about our culture could join in."
Our Journey
Four Years of
Growing Together
Founded the Telangana Initiative with a small group of friends. Hosted our first Diwali gathering and participated in the temple cultural fair for the first time, raising just over $1,000.
Expanded our festival calendar to include Ugadi, Holi, and Bathukamma. Formalized our temple stall operation and raised $3,500 — tripling our first year.
Launched informal Telugu language sessions for community members. Temple stall revenue crossed $5,000 for the first time. Began building this website and expanding our online presence.
Launched free interactive Telugu lessons online. Continued all major festivals. Raised over $5,000 again at the temple stall. Passed the torch to the next generation of student leaders.
